What are the Risks?
There are many risks for being online. One, you could accidentally give away viable information about you. What your real name is, where you live, phone number and even more! Online predators love that information. They use that for leverage over you, so be careful. Also you are at risk for viruses. These viruses are dangerous to your identity and your money. They can get banking passwords and bank records . They mostly come through your e-mail!
How do I keep myself safe?
There are many things that you can do that can help keep you safe online. One thing to start with is your social network profile. Make sure you are not be friends with anyone you do not know. If you are very trust worthy, you can maybe be friends with friends of friends. But just be careful. Another thing you can do to protect yourself is making your own profile private to only yourself. Making your profile private can really help yourself. Also, don't post your personal information, like where you live, phone number, especially your SSN (Social Security Number).

What would you do?
This is my School Board policy about Cyber Bullying.
Cyber bullying in Becker High School is an absolute no! Becker High School considers cyber bullying is "Use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group, that is intended to harm others". What considers as harm, is the harm-e down not like in any way, shape, or form.
With any cyber bullying activity, staff will take immediate action and serious consequences will be given. Staff will be looking for strange activity with a student. Then they may ask the student about why they have been acting differently. If cyber bullying is found, a warning will be given to the bully. Second time will be suspension. The third is expelled. If anyone out of school is bullying a student, authorities will be contacted.
Any tips?
Here is one tip. Just stay off social networks all together. That's what I do. I just stay away from them. Then I don't have to worry about being attacked by anyone online. They will just have to say it to my face, instead of hiding behind a computer screen. So that's all I did, and I'm still living life to the fullest. If you don't want to leave the network site, just do these simple things. If someone starts harassing you, just press the report button, and the network will do something about it. Or talk to a parent or teacher for more help.
